Taranaki Intensive Winter Grazing rules

Intensive winter grazing is the use of forage crops to provide feed to cattle when grass growth is minimal.

The animals eat the crops in the paddock they are grown in, and if not managed carefully have been known to damage soil and create deep mud which can create sores and other issues for stock unable to access dry ground.

  •    Properly managed IWG reduces freshwater contamination and improves animal welfare.
